Position Summary:
We are hiring our Ice Crew for a seasonal part-time role, reporting to our Chief Engineer and Special Projects Manager. If you have a ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent skating abilities, a devotion to your craft, and a passion for sports, we want to hear from you.
Ice Crew members are a diverse group of men and women who will serve as skaters for all home games and additional events throughout the 2025-2026 season.
This role pays an hourly rate of $17.20-$18.20 CAD
This is a seasonal role from August to May.
EVERGREEN ROLE: Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis; there is no application deadline
About the Venue:
Canada Life Place, which opened in October 2002, features a seating capacity of 9,090 for hockey and ice events and accommodates over 10,000 guests for concerts, family shows, and other major events. As a prominent landmark and hub of civic pride, it plays a vital role in fostering community engagement, cultural vibrancy, and public accessibility. Renowned for its industry-leading standards and commitment to excellence, Canada Life Place is a premier destination for fans, artists, and athletes alike.
Responsibilities:
Ice Crew members are experienced skaters whose duties will include;
- Shovel ice during TV timeouts
- Work through a game day checklist
- Move/place hockey nets, drill holes
- Clearing ice of any debris
- Slushing ice
- Change out glass
- Push in retractable seating when required
- Act as an on-ice skate patrol for public skating events
- Engaging in fan activations during intermissions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Strong ability to skate; hockey experience and/or knowledge is a plus
- Ability to mobilize quickly and for long durations
- Awareness and understanding of the rules of the OHL Hockey League (resources provided)
- Ability to work independently and as a productive member of a team
- Capable of working a flexible schedule and extended hours, including but not limited to working early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays in addition to traditional during business hours
- Must be able to work in a loud noise environment
- Strong verbal communication skills in the English language
- Proven ability to work well with all levels of management
- Strong work ethic and personal integrity
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs for short periods
- Basic arena refrigeration certificate and/or experience in ice resurfacer operationswould be considered an asset
