Procurement Specialist
Summary
Terralink Horticulture is a growing horticultural supply company that has been supplying the farming and horticulture industry in Western Canada since 1973. We manufacture organic and conventional fertilizers and sell a wide range of crop protection products, seed and other crop inputs. Terralink is looking for a Procurement Specialist to be part of our well-established procurement team based in our Abbotsford location. This position will be responsible for the purchasing and inventory management of a variety of products for Terralink.
This position ideally requires an individual with an agricultural background, or a general education focused on procurement. The successful candidate will have experience in contract negotiation and an interest in maintaining and creating new relationships with vendors. Strong interpersonal skills are required as this person will work closely with a variety of different departments within Terralink. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication skills and is willing to learn in a fast-paced team environment.
The candidate will report to the Procurement Manager and is directly responsible for the purchasing of materials from suppliers and addressing any supply issues. This position includes inventory management for resale and production. The Procurement Specialist is also responsible for creating new and maintaining existing relationships with suppliers along with managing contract negotiation and cost saving measures. Daily tasks include data entry, report generation, and procurement planning.
Job Duties
- Prepare, analyze, and negotiate purchase orders with suppliers for resale and production requirements.
- Manage inventory levels for MRP inventoried items and for production needs to meet sales demand.
- Coordinate the movement of purchased materials and supporting documents with a high level of detail.
- Compile documentation required for inbound and outbound shipments for all transportation methods.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Post Secondary Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Business, Supply Chain or related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required to support this role.
- Experience with Supply Chain & Procurement in the agricultural industry preferred.
- Strong team and interpersonal skills as this role requires collaboration within multiple departments.
- Proficiency with Excel and ERP systems required.
Working Conditions
The job is performed at a workstation for up to 8 hours per day under standard office conditions for over 95% of the work but may involve meeting warehouse sales/staff or participating in off-site meetings as required.
