About the role
We’re Hiring: Contract Support Staff – Toddler Program (Full-Time)
Start Date: September 2025 (Opportunity for supply hours prior to start)
We are currently seeking a compassionate, flexible, and supportive individual to join our Toddler program as a Contract Support Staff member. This is a full-time role beginning in September 2025, with the option to begin earlier as a supply staff member.
Role Overview
This position is focused on supporting the successful integration of a child with additional needs into a busy, dynamic toddler classroom. While the primary focus will be ensuring the child’s safety and supporting them during transitions and therapy sessions, this role is not intended to be one-on-one. Instead, you will serve as a general classroom support, assisting wherever needed to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
- Current CPR/Standard First Aid certification
- Valid Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Proof of up-to-date immunizations (including TB test and COVID-19 vaccination)
Recommended Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
- Familiarity with How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH)
Considered an Asset:
- Experience working with young children in a licensed childcare setting
- Experience supporting children with special needs
- Educational background in Early Childhood Education (RECE), Developmental Services Work (DSW), or other child-focused programs
Key Attributes We’re Looking For:
- Compassionate and empathetic approach
- Physically capable of lifting/carrying a minimum of 30 pounds
- Flexible and understanding in fast-paced environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to inclusive, child-centered care
Starting wage is $20.55 with 4% Vacation pay added.
