The Opportunity:
Within the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training, the Immigration Services Branch is seeking one term Immigration Officer to work within the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), Economic Immigration Unit. The Immigration Officer plays an important role in attracting and retaining immigrants helping to meet Saskatchewan's current and future labour market needs, economic development goals, and to improve the socio-economic outcomes of immigrants who settle here.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Economic Immigration, your responsibilities will include:
- performing detailed reviews and assessments of applications from individuals who wish to immigrate to Saskatchewan to work;
- providing exceptional front-line customer service to clients, employers, and stakeholders;
- developing working relationships with related federal and provincial agencies and other stakeholders; and
- consulting with government, community, employers, and other stakeholders to implement immigration strategies in Saskatchewan.
Success in this role demands:
- knowledge of labour market trends, needs, and issues in Saskatchewan;
- the ability to search for and assess data/information;
- the ability to assess complex information to make eligibility decisions;
- the ability to make accurate and timely decisions;
- the ability to explain complex concepts to a variety of audiences;
- experience working with custom databases and developing reports using various software programs;
- the ability to work independently or collaboratively as a team member with co-workers, stakeholders, and others to consistently meet Ministry and client needs; and
- being an enthusiastic team player who tactfully and respectfully supports colleagues to promote a positive work environment.
Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above are obtained through a bachelor's degree in business administration, commerce, economics, or social science. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
