About the role
What you'll do:
- Reporting to the Manager Policy, Program Development & Readiness, this position is responsible for providing day-to-day direction and leadership to the User Acceptance Testing Unit and is responsible for ensuring our software meets business requirements and is ready for deployment.
- Provide day-to-day direction, management and supervision to a team of user acceptance testers, including coordination of work and formal and informal coaching and training.
- Develop and manage UAT plans, test cases and scripts including traceability between requirements and test cases.
- Ensure the work of the unit is aligned with the divisional and corporate strategic plans.
- Supervise the testing of program software to ensure it meets test, design and user specifications.
- Provide recommendations and advice to various stakeholders on the promotion of system maintenance and enhancements to production environments and the risks associated with system defects and bugs.
- Collaborate with other work units, including IT and R&D to develop, coordinate and implement UAT testing for various program components and system changes/enhancements.
- Prepare time and resource estimates, monitor project progress, and effectively communicate with other stakeholders and management about project status, potential requirements, and deficiencies.
- Coordinate production releases and provide senior management with recommendations for final approval of projects.
- Responsible for user acceptance testing for a variety of major applications such as the Ceres database, Customer Relations Management (D365) database, AgConnect, CropConnect, Crop Insurance System, AgAdmin and AgSupport.
- Liaise with project managers, business analysts, and system analysts in developing system upgrades, enhancements and/or correcting system problems and errors.
- Provide guidance and technical support to staff, for problems and inquiries encountered with SCIC’s programs and forms.
- Approve user acceptance test criteria ensuring staff research, compile and write clear, concise and complex scenarios using written test specifications and program design specifications, system design manuals, policy/regulations and verbal instructions.
Qualifications:
- To be successful in this position you will need a diploma in Computer Science or Business Administration supplemented by three years of software testing and Quality Assurance. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated responsibility in supervising and managing a team.
- Strong understanding of UAT testing methodologies.
- Ability to interpret system specifications and develop sound testing criteria.
- Knowledge of business analysis and project management.
- Strong interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration and influence of other actions through explaining and demonstrating needs of the UAT unit.
- Proven relationship building skills that create a coalition of support for change initiatives and advance a culture of innovation and teamwork.
- Supervisory skills demonstrated through effective leadership, with the ability to maintain excellent working relationships.
- Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex policies and procedures.
- Organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.
- A criminal record check is required.
