About the role

Paquin Entertainment Group is seeking a Controller to join our finance team.

Your Role

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Finance the Controller will manage the day-to-day financial operations, accounting and reporting. This individual is a critical leader, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of overall operations and providing strong team leadership in a high volume, fast paced environment.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·       Oversee all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, inventory costing, revenue recognition.

·       Develop and manage month end and year end accounting close processes.

·       Review month-end reports and assist with the preparation of internally generated financial statements

on a monthly basis. Review and approve the reconciliation of all trial balance accounts.

·       Review and approve HST, QST, and any other required sales tax filings.

·       Develop and improve internal control processes for the organization.

·       Lead the accounting team.

·       Assist with the year-end Review engagements for the two operating entities as well as any

consolidation requirement(s). Consult with external auditors.

·       Lead efforts to integrate AP and expense management systems into the QBO platform. Find

opportunities for efficiencies across system software(s).

·       Review credit card reconciliations and for accuracy and completeness.

·       Manage any CRA audits.

·       Work with divisional leadership (Artist Agency and Exhibitions & Theatrical) on divisional budget

creation and ensure updated and timely reporting of budget to actuals.

·       Liaise with external lenders and financial institutions on overall cash account management and assist

with the negotiation of any debt financing the organization may require.

·       Manage day-to-day bank transactions and cash activity; approve payments for processing.

·       Prepare cash flow & liquidity summaries per entity, and at a consolidated level.

·       Standardize templates for the E&T division including production budgets, cost reports, and

settlements and ensure the timely and accurate reporting of project P&L to stakeholders.

·       Work with divisional management to update, review and analyze project forecast models to support

business planning and capital allocation decisions.

·       Review Artist Agency artist settlements.

·       Assist with providing Artist Agency ad hoc reporting as needed.

·       Lead preparation of US Sales tax reporting, review sales tax entries and support outside Accountant(s)

with US sales tax requests.

·       Other various accounting and financial related duties as required, including special projects related to

legacy matters and new business opportunities.

   Competencies/Skills Knowledge/Experience/ Behaviours

·       Mandatory CPA designation

·       7+ years of senior financial and management experience

·       Experience in live entertainment is an advantage

·       Strong leadership and communication skills

·       Experience in the media or entertainment industry is preferred

·       Experience working in entrepreneurial businesses is preferred

·       Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office is required

·       Knowledge of QuickBooks, US and Canadian tax legislation would be an asset

Salary range: $110,000 - $130,000
