Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM – 4:15 PM (Nine-Day Fortnight)

This position works in Police – Records organizational unit. This is clerical work of some variety and complexity in maintaining the records system of an RCMP detachment, specifically managing mail. A Police Records Clerk is responsible for processing all of the incoming and outgoing mail at the Detachment. The incumbent will be responsible for keeping a record of certified mail sent including processing, assessing and following up on courier requests and organizing and distributing mail. Searching for detailed information in response to requests for information and cross-checking files to ensure appropriate information is received. Other responsibilities may include the filing and managing of traffic tickets, performing data entry and assisting with filing tasks. Reads U.C.R error reports and retrieves information from PRIME. Scans and attaches information to Police file General Occurrences. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by commercial typing course plus some related experience preferably in a Police Department; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of clerical and recordkeeping methods and procedures and of business English, spelling and arithmetic. Some knowledge of computer applications such as PRIME as it applies to the work is also ideal. An incumbent will have the ability to prepare, maintain and retrieve a variety of records and files applicable to the work; search for requested information using several internal sources; ability to operate standard office equipment such as PRIME, MS Word and MS excel to perform data entry and scan information to Police files and deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts. This position requires the successful incumbent to obtain and maintain Enhanced Security Clearance.
