Position Summary

The Summer Programming Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of summer camps and recreational programming from July through August. This includes supporting camp operations, assisting camp staff, addressing parent communications, and ensuring the success of summer intramurals and campus recreation activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the implementation of summer camps and the camp curriculum (starting July 2-August 22)
  • Acts as the point person for camp staff (3 people)
  • Actively involved in the day-to-day of camps (be the point person for parents, concerns, problem solving, etc.)
  • Occasionally instruct at the camps (warm up, cool down, skill instruction)
  • Organize and oversee summer intramural soccer.
  • Organize and oversee the summer cricket league.
  • Oversee the drop in campus rec programming (e.g., set up and take down of equipment).
  • Distribution of tasks to other fitness staff (scheduling, tasks, etc).
  • Occasionally work the front desk of fitness centre.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a minimum of a two (2) year post secondary program in Health, Fitness, Recreation, Kinesiology, Phys Ed, and/or Education, or equivalent
  • Up to 1 year experience in organizing health and fitness and recreational activities, preferably with children. Experience in a summer camp environment considered an asset.
  • High level of organization and time management needed.
  • Works collaboratively with other and supports a positive team environment.
  • Proactive and identifying and addressing issues.
  • Service-oriented and approachable.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be willing to be hands on and active throughout the day.
