MARKET INSIGHTS ANALYST
INVEST OTTAWA – VENTURE DEVELOPMENT
As a Market Insights Analyst, you will lead and deliver high-impact research projects for founders, advisors, and ecosystem partners across Ottawa’s innovation community. From understanding target markets to mapping funding pathways, you’ll help bring clarity to complex business challenges. You’ll work closely with a team of curious problem-solvers while owning your own research mandates from end to end. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning data into insight,
thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited by the potential of generative AI to transform how research is done.
This position will be required to work onsite at Bayview Yards, minimum 10 days per month.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Lead and Deliver Research Projects

Facilitate discovery sessions to understand client goals and define research questions

Design and execute custom research approaches that blend qualitative and quantitative methods
-
Translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights for startups

Deliver polished, on-time reports and presentations that inform decision-making
Data Gathering and Analysis
- Use platforms such as PitchBook, GlobalData, ZoomInfo Sales, and others to extract secondary data
- Conduct independent research to supplement database findings with industry reports, publications, expert interviews, and additional sources
- Apply generative AI tools to streamline research workflows and synthesize insights
- Develop practical playbooks, templates, and how-to guides that empower founders to build their own research capabilities
Contribute to Team Growth and Strategy

Help develop new research offerings, tools, and internal processes

Contribute to the creation of case studies, client success stories, and other promotional
materials that highlight our impact -
Experiment with generative AI tools and share learnings, best practices, and use cases with
the team -
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/ GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER:
- 2–4 years of experience in research, strategy, or business analysis (experience supporting startups or small businesses is an asset
- Post-secondary education in business, economics, marketing, innovation, or a related field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data visualization or reporting tools is a bonus
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and collaboratively
- Creative problem-solver with strong analytical skills
- Solid understanding of business fundamentals and the startup lifecycle.
- Familiar with (or eager to learn) research tools like PitchBook, GlobalData, ZoomInfo Sales, and others
- Experience leading research projects from discovery through to presentation
- You enjoy experimenting with generative AI tools and are excited about their potential to enhance research and productivity
- Highly organized, comfortable juggling multiple priorities, and able to manage your time effectively
- Strong communication skills and an ability to distill complex data into clear, actionable recommendation
