About the role

ROLE

  • Assist in the ER under the direct supervision of a registered nurse according to the assigned duties within the scope of practice as established by the College of Nurses of Ontario and in accordance with Hospital policy.
  • Has successfully completed MAHC RPN enhanced scope of practice credentialing.
  • Administer nursing care for patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

  • Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario

  • Courses at diploma level or equivalent courses through a recognized College Program (pre or post-grad RPN): Medication Course/Math Pharmacology, Catheterization, PIV Therapy, Health Assessment, Wound Management

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support)

  • Basic & Advanced Nursing Fundamental Skills.

  • Successful completion of MAHC RPN enhanced scope of practice skills

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)

  • Minimum 2 years Medical / Surgical experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and function well under stress and crisis situations.

DESIRED SKILLS**, EXPERIENCE(S)** & EDUCATION

  • Physical Assessment Course.
  • Previous ER / Ambulatory Care / Clinical Setting / Trauma / Cardiac experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Location: South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) in Bracebridge. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
