This is a permanent part-time position that will August 25, 2025.

Job Purpose: Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus

  • Good working knowledge of The Highway and Transportation Act and The Traffic Safety Act

  • Good working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook and Saskatchewan Commercial Driver's Handbook

  • Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour

  • Demonstrated patience, maturity and experience working with children

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Qualifications:

  • Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License for at least 2 years.

  • Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement

    • training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers
  • Clear driver's abstract, with no major infractions

    • A current Driver’s Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your application
    • A copy of the abstract can be:
      • uploaded to your online application,
      • emailed to transportation@pvsd.ca or
      • faxed to 306-543-1771.
  • Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with The Highway Traffic Act

  • First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Division's expense.

Working Conditions:

  • Full time bus routes are paid at daily base rate of $57.26 plus a per km rate calculated at $0.22/km

    • All routes are paid at the minimum of 90 kms for a total of $77.06 per day. Actual mileage paid depends on the route assignment.
  • Drivers with young children may take their children with them on the bus

  • Commencing August 25, 2025

  • Working in varied climates and differing road conditions

  • Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
