WEST GATE SOCIAL - BACK OF HOUSE SHIFT LEAD
SAMRU operates two dynamic food and beverage spaces in Wyckham House:
● West Gate Social – a vibrant counter-service lounge and social hub.
● West Gate Perks – a cozy new coffee kiosk.
We are seeking motivated and passionate shift leads to support the Counter Service Staff working back of house in West Gate Social. Compensation begins at $16.50/h plus tips.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support a team of part-time staff, ensuring smooth service and a positive work environment.
- Prepare ingredients, cook and plate menu items accurately and efficiently.
- Set up cooking stations with necessary equipment.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels.
- Lead kitchen staff for efficient operation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
- Conduct routine quality checks on food items.
- Assist in other kitchen duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a fast-paced and demanding kitchen environment.
- Food safety training; a recognized food safety training certification an asset.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and committed to cleanliness.
- Excellent time-management and multi-tasking skills.
- ProServe and ProTect certification an asset.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
West Gate Social’s regular operation hours are 11:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Friday with occasional evenings and weekends for special events. This is a seasonal position starting August 2025 and ending April 30th, 2026.
