Position Description

Urban Life Solutions is hiring dedicated Skilled Leads & Labourers with experience in concrete and asphalt work to join our construction and maintenance crews. Under the direction of the Foreman, Skilled Leads & Labourers will assist in a variety of tasks, including interlocking, retaining walls, preparing forms, pouring, and finishing concrete, carpentry, as well as asphalt surfaces for municipal and federal projects. This role also includes seasonal responsibilities such as landscape maintenance in summer and snow removal in winter.

The ideal candidate is a team player with a strong work ethic, ready to tackle physically demanding outdoor work year-round.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing sites, mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete for sidewalks, curbs, and foundations.
• Support asphalt paving, patching, and repair tasks for roads, pathways, and parking lots.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and light machinery (e.g., tampers, saws, rollers).
• Load and unload materials, ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
• Follow Foreman’s instructions and adhere to safety guidelines and project specifications.
• Perform landscape maintenance and snow removal as needed.

Capabilities and Experience

We’re looking for reliable individuals with hands-on experience in Skilled Construction environment who can thrive in a dynamic, fast paced in an outdoor setting.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 1+ years of experience working with in construction or landscape.
• Familiarity with tools and techniques for placing and finishing concrete and asphalt.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and prolonged standing.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
• Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn and take direction.
• Valid G driver’s license is an asset; experience with small equipment (e.g., bobcats, compactors) is a plus.
• Can obtain or have a valid and current security clearance (reliability/secret).

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• On-the-job training or certifications in concrete/asphalt work, construction safety (e.g., WHMIS), or equipment operation are an advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 55 per week
