About the Role
Brookfield Renewable is seeking a consummate professional to join the Financial Reporting and Lender Relations team as an Accountant. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting and Lender Relations, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements (IFRS and U.S. GAAP) and financial-related operational reports required under the terms of Brookfield Renewable’s North American subsidiary entity credit and equity agreements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and audited annual financial statements;
- Prepare or analyze financial-related reporting for lenders, partners and internal stakeholders including debt service coverage ratios, operating reports, variance analysis, distribution tests, cash flow forecast ratios, etc.;
- Actively contribute to the year-end audit.
Compliance
- Monitor ongoing compliance under Brookfield Renewable’s subsidiary credit agreements, partnership agreements, and tax equity arrangements; proactively highlight potential gaps versus obligations;
- Build and maintain working relationships with lenders and partners and provide first-line responses to inquiries;
- Prepare regulatory compliance forms for governmental entities.
Projects
- Actively contribute to continued process improvement initiatives focused on automation, streamlining, internal controls, and reducing the risk of human error;
- Provide ad hoc support to other groups within Brookfield Renewable, as it relates to M&A activities, credit rating review, and credit agreement review.
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Team player with willingness to learn and be coached;
- One (1) or more years of relevant experience;
- Experience working with credit agreements;
- Experience working with large, multi-national corporations with numerous and varying reporting requirements;
- Hold or in the process of completing a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA; CPA (U.S.));
- Working knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP;
- Solid analytical abilities combined with being highly detail oriented;
- Ability to work confidently in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment and to be flexible in adapting to shifting priorities;
- Strong communication skills (oral and written);
- Financial statement auditing experience.
Assets
- Knowledge and practical experience with Insight Software’s Certent CDM & Disclosure Management, Workiva’s Wdesk, IBM Cognos Controller, IFS, OneStream or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 3 days to perform most effectively. We will reassess the approach on a as needed basis.
