Term: 2 Term Contract

Reports To: Executive Director of Community Engagement

Reason for vacancy: New student position

Expected hiring salary range: $17.20 per hour

Primary Purpose

The Community Engagement Liaison supports the operational and logistical aspects of UNF's community engagement initiatives and events. This student staff member will play a key role in implementing event logistics, completing administrative tasks, and supporting volunteer coordination. This role will work very closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator. This position is ideal for students interested in gaining hands-on experience in community outreach, event operations, and nonprofit or student affairs work.

This role is designed to provide consistent, detail-oriented support to allow the Community Engagement Coordinator to focus on strategic planning, partnerships, and high-level engagement opportunities.

Specific Responsibilities

Event Support & Logistics:

  • Assist with event setup, on-site execution, and takedown for community events and volunteer initiatives.
  • Help prepare materials for events, including organizing and distributing swag and t-shirts.
  • Support volunteer coordination, including collecting waivers and helping with on-site check-ins and sign-ups.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Track and update volunteer hours in the appropriate systems or logs.
  • Create and update volunteer registration forms and sign-up sheets.
  • Review and sort incoming event invitations, sharing relevant details with the Coordinator.
  • Research local part-time job opportunities for students and prepare postings for bulletin boards or online sharing platforms.

Event Preparation:

  • Count, inventory, and prepare t-shirts, swag, and other event supplies in advance of engagements.
  • Maintain orderly storage and packing systems for event materials.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Provide day-of-event assistance as needed, including staffing tables or booths.
  • Support special projects related to community engagement

Opportunity Requirements:

  • Enrolled as a student within the University of Niagara Falls Canada during the entire duration of the contract and in good academic standing.
  • At the start date, student has completed one term.
  • Preference for cumulative average of 70%.
  • Strong attention to detail and task completion.
  • Willingness to perform physical event setup/takedown (light lifting required).
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends.
  • Comfort using basic digital tools (PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, etc.).
  • Interest in community service, event work, or student engagement is an asset.
