Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority - Yellowknife Region (NTHSSA) is one of eight health and social services authorities established by the Department of Health and Social Services in the Government of the Northwest Territories.

NTHSSA - Yellowknife Region delivers and administers Population Health, Primary Health Care and Social Services programs in the communities of Dettah, Fort Resolution, Lutselk'e, N'Dilo and Yellowknife.

Our mission is to work with people to optimize wellbeing through the provision of collaborative and culturally appropriate health and social services.

Job Information

Key Responsibilities

We're seeking a dedicated Public Health Nurse (PHN) to join our team!

As a PHN, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health of our communities. You will follow clinical practice guidelines to provide assessments and select treatments, offering community-based programming/services. Your responsibilities will also include developing, delivering, and evaluating health promotion and disease prevention strategies.

Eliminating the risk of vaccine-preventable and communicable diseases is a key aspect of your role. You will conduct assessments, provide education, and administer immunizations. Your dedication to this cause will help safeguard the health of our communities.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will design, implement, modify, and evaluate health promotion activities to improve community health. Your expertise will ensure that these activities align with national and territorial program standards, effectively addressing the health needs of our population.

To be considered for this role, you must have a BScN or BN nursing degree program with two (2) years of nursing experience in a public health or community health environment. Equivalencies of 2 years public health and community or Emergency or Acute Care will also be considered.
