Hybrid, Based out of Toronto:

The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to preventing and reducing harms from gambling. For over 40 years, we have worked to reduce gambling risk by creating and delivering innovative awareness and information programs in Ontario and around the world. We work with priority populations, including youth, young adults, ethnocultural populations, and the general public, to educate people on the risks of gambling, mitigating those risks and how to access support. We work with the industry and regulators to promote the adoption of improved play safeguards through best practices research, standards development and the RG Check accreditation program.

Join (RGC) as Senior Manager, PR & Communications**:** and play a vital role in fostering meaningful connections through storytelling, strategic communication, public and government relations. In this role, you’ll help shape our thought leadership strategy and how we engage with the communities we serve while building strong relationships internally and externally.

We’re seeking a curious, detail-oriented, and passionate leader who can craft impactful narratives, amplify our voice across diverse platforms, and is passionate about driving real change. You thrive as part of a collaborative and mission driven team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:**

1. Strategy & Planning (20%):

  • Lead organization communication strategy and execution by crafting compelling press releases, op-eds, thought leadership pieces and proactively research and secure press media opportunities.
  • Support the executive leadership team with development and delivery of key narratives and executive messaging.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align strategies with the organization's vision and mission.

2. Strategic Communications (50%):

  • Craft compelling, impactful narratives tailored to the communities we serve - Demonstrate knowledge of EDI principles and experience in engaging diverse communities, with a focus on ethnocultural markets.
  • Oversee the end-to-end development of content, including press releases, newsletters, blogs, social media posts, and reports.
  • Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with the evolving brand tone.
  • Proofread, edit, and approve internal stakeholder created content.
  • Oversee PR KPI monitoring and reporting for external communications and identify opportunities for future strategies.

3. Media & Government Relations (25%):

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, bloggers, and other media professionals.
  • Prepare and distribute press materials, including press releases, media kits, and pitches.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including media outlets and industry associations.
  • Support leadership team with government relations communications, proposals, and/or funding requests.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and respond appropriately.

4. Research & Insights (20%):

  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging opportunities, and best practices.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to enhance communication strategies.

5. Other Tasks as Required:

  • Take on additional projects and responsibilities that align with organizational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS**:**

  • 5+ years of combined experience in a strategic PR and Communications role.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in PR or Communications.

  • Occasional domestic travel may be required.

  • Outstanding storytelling and writing skills (portfolio required, including press releases and other writing samples).

  • Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities to understand and navigate complex policy issues.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage projects effectively.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate strong relationships.

  • Curious, resourceful, and driven toward innovation.

  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.

  • Bilingual proficiency is considered an asset.

Hiring range for this position is $72,000 - $82,000 annually, commensurate with skills and experience, plus comprehensive benefits including virtual health care, personal and health care spending accounts and Group RRSP, and flexible work environment.

RGC operates in a hybrid work environment. The successful candidate will be expected to work in the Toronto office when needed.
