What do we need from you?
The OSC Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the out-of-school program in a school setting. Reporting to the Centre Director, this supervisor role will manage a small team to promote excellence in the delivery of Kepler Academy’s core foundation. You will be responsible in promoting and setting a positive work environment, providing licensing guidance, programing advice and support to your team. You will implement programs to lead children in activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth and ensure their security and well-being.
What will you do?
- Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
- Develop and implement school-age children’s programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
- Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, playing games, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
- Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other team members
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or Centre Management
- Ensure routines are practiced and programming aligns with scheduled activities in the classrooms
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
- Ensure the physical environment is clean, organized, and regularly maintained by the team
- Ensure compliance with licensing regulations by providing licence guidance to the team and address issues with the management team immediately
- Complete incident reporting
- Ensure medications are administered as required and documented when necessary
- Keep children files, portable record cards and allergy listings current
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and report concerns to Centre Management
- Assist Centre Management to ensure organization’s policies and procedures are followed
- Build positive and collaborative relationships with children, families, school and team members

- Critical thinking skills and ability to respond to urgent needs
- Ability to engage in active play, including bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
Required qualifications to work at Kepler Academy:
- A minimum of 3 years Early Childhood experience in the Childcare industry
- Child Development Certificate issued in the Province of Alberta, Level 1, 2 or 3
- Valid Standard Child Care / Level C First Aid certificate
- Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check issued within the past 6 months
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of childcare professionals
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
