General Job Summary:
Pathway Community Services Ltd. Provides residential support services to children with a wide range of abilities and challenges, who have been diagnosed with ADHD, OCD, FASD, ASD, developmental delays, mental health issues, as well as high risk behaviour. In order to work successfully within our team, the ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic and a high standard of practice in all areas.

Oversees the day-to-day operations of a Care Setting, provides ongoing supervision of Service Provider Personnel and Subcontractors

Develops, implements and evaluates Care Setting goals, and ensures the required standards are maintained. Identifies both physical and program needs of the Care Setting to appropriate authority(ies). Plans with Service Personnel and Subcontractors for changes.

Supervises and evaluates Service Provider Personnel and Subcontractors and monitors daily operations. Assists in selecting of Service Provider Personnel and Subcontractors and provides guidance, training and orientation on policies, procedures, techniques, report preparation or other matters arising in the Care Setting. Identifies the needs of Service Provider Personnel and Subcontractors for professional development.

Ensures the cleanliness, safety, security and maintenance of the Care Setting in accordance with applicable licensing standards either directly or through delegation to Service Provider Personnel and Subcontractors.

Maintains the Care Setting’s inventory of supplies

Works as a Residential Child & Youth Worker or an Awake Residential Night Worker performing the duties as required; appropriately delivering or enables strategies established in children’s and youth’s SHSS Service Plan.

Provides a safe, supportive, structured, and developmentally appropriate home environment that promotes a sense of overall well-being, belonging and empowerment for the individual, as well as the care team.

To manage all aspects of the home environment including: individual care, team building, home operations, and internal finances.

The role includes the requirement to work in a stressful environment often dealing with individuals and staff in crisis situations. The ability to function independently, under pressure while effectively and resourcefully managing emergency situations is an ongoing expectation of the role.

Evening and weekend work may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Undergraduate Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or equivalent;

Diploma in related human/social service field will be considered (depending on combination with background experience)

First Aid training (Condition of Hire)

CPI and/or Mandt certification and training and/or

Specific training in behavioural modification, children under 12 years of age, attachment-based experience, and relationship-based interventions (Trauma informed practice)

BC Class 5 Driver's License

Background and Experience

Supervisory experience is required

Minimum 3 years related experience

Demonstrated working knowledge of community-based resources

Neuro-behavioural experience (ABA, Mandt training, CPI training)

Experience with alternative methods of communication (PICS, PECS)

Experience in application and understanding of behavioural support plans

Insight into specific disabilities and/or behaviour supports required for persons in care

Familiarity with MCFD Plan of Care (CPOC) and/or CARF Person Centered Plan (PCP)
