A recovery-oriented system of care is a coordinated network of personalized, community-based services for people at risk of or experiencing addiction and mental health challenges. It provides access to a full continuum of services and supports, from prevention and intervention to treatment and recovery. The vision is for every Albertan to have the opportunity to pursue recovery and live a healthy and productive life.
The Ministry also liaises with the Office of the Alberta Health Advocates and Recovery Alberta.
Role Responsibilities
We’re looking for a strategic, solutions-focused leader to join us as Manager, Project Management. In this impactful role, you’ll bring project management expertise to help deliver the Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction’s most important initiatives. From early-stage planning and governance design to execution and implementation, you’ll provide the structure, coordination, and leadership needed to move complex projects forward.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver adaptable, cross-departmental support to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Facilitate engagement sessions, coordinate resources, and develop innovative solutions to project challenges.
- Step in across teams and divisions to maintain momentum and drive project completion.
- Apply project management and IMT expertise to advance high-priority departmental initiatives.
- Coordinate with System Overview and Strategic Services (SOSS) to align planning and implementation efforts.
- Ensure strategic initiatives are properly resourced and aligned with government priorities.
- Provide guidance on project scope and alignment during early planning stages.
- Lead or contribute to the development of integrated project plans and comprehensive business cases.
- Ensure all planning aligns with the Department’s Business Plan, operational goals, and policy direction.
- Manage coordination across divisions and departments for complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Identify and address barriers to ensure timely and effective project execution.
- Lead change management efforts to support the successful adoption of new initiatives.
- Build strong engagement and collaboration across leadership and implementation teams.
- Establish and promote consistent project management standards and practices across the department.
- Lead training and capacity-building initiatives with internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications
University degree in public or business administration, and 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Required Experience:
- Supporting project management, business process design, and understanding complex systems.
- Managing effective relationships within corporate services teams.
- Project management, change management, and stakeholder engagement.
- With health system operations, privacy legislation, and IT system implementation.
- With business process engineering and the technology life cycle.
The following will be considered assets:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or actively working toward certification.
- Master’s degree or relevant post-graduate education.
- Previous experience in government and/or the health sector.

This is a permanent full-time position.
