Accountant
We are seeking an experienced Accountant for our public sector client located in Toronto.
This role typically involves providing support to the accounting team in the areas of accounting, banking, and reporting services.
You will be involved in maintaining monthly General Ledger Balance Sheet Account reconciliations, performing bank reconciliations, preparing adjusting/correcting journals, and preparing analyses for monthly statements. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of cash flow reporting, financial forecasting, and supporting audit activities.
Qualifications:
- You have more than 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting, cash flow, forecasting, and banking for a large government organization, with a professional accounting designation.
- You have a strong understanding of government accounting, specifically Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues and department managers.
- You have strong written communication skills to prepare draft reports and other related materials for senior management.
- You are methodical, organized, and excel in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- You are flexible to go onsite or work in a hybrid model as required.
Previous experience in the public, broader public, and not-for-profit sectors is preferred, and Ontario Public Service retirees are welcome to apply.
