About the role
About the Company
Transition Financial Advisors Group is a rapidly growing cross-border wealth management and financial advisory platform. Our integrated model combines investment management, tax strategy, estate planning, and holistic financial planning for high-net-worth clients with ties to both Canada and the United States. We are committed to building a collaborative, client-focused team that thrives on technical excellence and long-term relationships.
We are looking to add a motivated and detail-oriented Cross Border Financial Planner / Associate Advisor to support our cross-border private client practice. Key Responsibilities
Planning & Client Support
- Assist in developing and maintaining comprehensive financial plans across retirement, estate, investment, and tax strategies.
- Support client onboarding, data collection, and plan implementation efforts.
- Prepare meeting materials, follow-up summaries, and action item trackers for client review sessions
Research & Analysis
- Conduct scenario modeling and cash flow projections in financial planning software.
- Research complex planning questions and summarize options for senior advisors to present to clients.
- Help evaluate cross-border considerations including residency status, pensions, RRSP/401(k) coordination, estate planning implications and tax exposure.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Work with tax and operations teams to facilitate document collection, signature processes, and tax filing coordination.
- Maintain up-to-date CRM and planning files for assigned client relationships.
- Assist in scheduling, reporting, and compliance documentation as needed.
Professional Development & Team Collaboration
- Participate in internal training sessions and shadow client meetings to develop advisory skills.
- Provide support across planning and tax departments and assist where needed during peak cycles (e.g., tax season).
- Take initiative to grow toward a lead advisor role with mentorship from senior team members.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary degree in Financial Planning, Accounting, or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, tax preparation, or a related field
- Progress toward CFP, CPA, CIM, CFA or equivalent credential is strongly preferred.
- Dual citizenship is desirable
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interest in cross-border planning, international tax, and wealth strategy.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent follow-through.
- Comfortable with financial planning software, Excel, and CRM tools.
- Professional demeanor and strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Eagerness to learn, grow, and take on more client responsibility over time.
We thank all applicants for their interest and wish to advise that only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
