STATUS: PART-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE DEC 2026)
WAGE RATE: $26.020 – $28.046
Reporting to the Manager of Patient Access and Flow, this position is responsible for monitoring and controlling bed allocation in consultation with appropriate clinical staff. This position receives and coordinates/books patient transportation requests. Receiving and coordinating One Number and Critical/Life or Limb requests are a primary focus which involves ensuring beds are available in specific situations. It also includes Patient Service Agent duties (ER registration) and data quality.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:
Required
- Minimum 6 months experience as a PSA within the last 3 years – working in all areas (Central Registration, and ER Registration)
- Successful completion of PM Access (to be tested; training is available through Learning Resources)
- Microsoft Office experience in Word and Excel (to be tested)
- Typing – 30 WPM (to be tested)
- Medical terminology (to be tested)
- Ability to utilize Cerner patient information system, which includes ADT procedures, FirstNet tracking & triage registration, statistical verification, census reporting
- Secondary School Diploma and/or post-secondary medical secretarial education or equivalent
- Ability to work all shifts within the rotation (including evenings and weekends)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Patient-service focused
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
- Capable of filing
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
- Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment
