Reporting to the Product Management Lead, the Technical Product Owner is tasked with leading, orchestrating, and overseeing the
development of products and features, serving as the pivotal link between business and technology teams for a specific product.
This role possesses an in-depth knowledge of the product and its foundational technologies and is responsible for turning business
requirements into user stories. This role collaborates closely with the Business Product Owner and the dedicated Product Squad
including business analysts, designers, developers, and architects to bring the product vision to fruition.
Key to success in this role is having a robust understanding of Information Technology principles, processes, and technologies
alongside expertise in Product Management and Agile development methodologies. Additionally, project, product, and team
leadership skills are required to be able to effectively collaborate and orchestrate work across various business and technology
colleagues in a matrixed fashion.
Responsibilities:
- Owns the product roadmap and orchestrates business and technical resources to work together in an Agile method to deliver
incremental product releases using a sprint methodology.
- Leads discovery workshops with business stakeholders to understand the requirements and translate them to technical
requirements and dependencies in collaboration with various technical SMEs.
- Creates user stories for new product features that provide clear requirements on product features and enable the Product
squad to complete their design, development, and testing activities.
- Coordinates with stakeholders across various business units to align the business needs with product features and articulate
the requirements to the product squad.
- Collaborates with Platform Solution Owners, Solution Architects, and Business Systems Analysts to ensure the technical
architecture aligns with business requirements.
- Applies and develops complex tools to measure business value through all decision-making processes.
- Develops, presents, and manages personas, internal customer journey, and value maps.
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding of business, product, and underlying technologies to guide technical and
architectural changes in line with the product roadmap.
- Continuously manages the product backlog with the Business Product Owner to ensure all features are clearly described,
estimated, and prioritized.
- Oversees development and testing activities through to completion to ensure product functionality is accurately developed and
tested before deployment.
- Drives sprint and release plans together with the scrum master and product squad.
- Cultivates a working environment that fosters collaboration, minimum viable product mindset, and progressive attitude towards
change.

- A four-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related disciplines
from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of five years of directly applicable experience
OR
- A two-year diploma from an institute of recognized standing with a minimum of seven years of directly applicable experience.
- Experience leading technical and Product Delivery teams, including implementing products in a complex, matrixed
organization, preferably in the Power and Utilities sector.
- Experience in mobilizing product teams, maturing teams to scale, and creating a product-smart culture within organizations.
- Very strong knowledge of and/or experience with Agile methodologies, development, and delivery.
- Training and work experience in Six-Sigma, lean or equivalent business process improvement framework.
- Experience with internal customer Journey and value stream mapping, customer segment and persona development.
- Strong analytical skills, including a sound understanding of interpreting scorecard results to target, results relative to leading
operational metrics.
- Ability to understand and use data to extract actionable insights and develop recommendations.
- Strong understanding of customer experience practices and proven success in executing major projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and influence both business and technology teams.
- Ability to understand, empathize and bridge multiple perspectives (e.g., leadership and technical specialists), including ability
to communicate business product vision to technology teams and technical features or limitations to business teams.
- Exceptional stakeholder partnership and collaboration; able to work across different functions, internal and external
stakeholders.
- Excellent consultative skills with a strong ability to understand underlying stakeholder needs and organizational goals.
- Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with excellent communication and people-interaction skills, leading to co-creating
collaborative solutions and opportunities for individual and organization growth.
- Exceptional knowledge of the software development cycle and project management methodologies.
- Experience in cultivating agile principles and values and applying these principles to working with or in Agile teams.
- Extensive experience in working with technology engineering and design teams, demonstrating capacity to inspire, influence
and achieve alignment up, down and across the organization.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $47.22-$65.19 Hourly,
$90,484.68-$124,925.58 Annually.
