Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.
We are seeking candidates with high professional standards, and who are willing to personalize learning to meet the needs of our students. We invite applications for a Temporary Full Time Community School Liaison Counsellor (35 hours/week).
This is an itinerant position within Peace Wapiti School Division requiring travel.
Qualifications:
With a focus on counselling/mental health and wellness, we are seeking an experienced social worker or equivalent, to join our District level inter-disciplinary team. While assigned to specific schools, the position will involve the delivery of short term counselling to students who meet the criteria of the scope of school based practice, collaborating with the Peace Wapiti Wellness team and community partners that support the mental health of our students.
Required:
- Diploma in Social Work or equivalent
- A valid Driver's License
- Experience with small group and individual counselling is an asset
- Experience within a school system is an asset
- Desirable attributes include flexibility, ability to participate in a team setting, and effective communication.

Terms and conditions of employment are outlined in. The wage range for this position is $36.63/hour to $45.07/hour, commensurate with education and experience. The working schedule of this position is 35 hrs/wk, roughly following the school year calendar.

About Peace Wapiti Public School Division
Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 5,800 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students in 36 schools, including nine Hutterite colony schools, two outreach schools, an online school, and educational programming at a group home facility.
The system provides schooling for students from Horse Lake First Nation and Kelly Lake Indigenous Community. Excluding the colony schools, the smallest school has an enrollment of 34 students and the largest has 623 students. Alternative Education provides flexible programming to 95 students. In the smaller and more rural high schools, some reliance is placed on distance education programs to augment the basic in-school offerings. Specialty programs exist to meet local needs.
PWPSD employs the full-time equivalent of 375 teachers and 600 non-teaching staff, in addition to a number of part-time and casual personnel. The Transportation Department manages 100 bus routes.
