GENERAL OFFICE SUPPORT/ADMINISTRATION – SOUTH HILL EDUCATION CENTRE (OFFICE SUPPORT B)

Position Type: Permanent, Part-Time (0.7142 FTE)

Salary: $29.68/hour+6.75% shift differential for hours after 5pm

Benefits: Extensive benefits plan including dental, extended health, and municipal pension

Location: 100% in-person at South Hill Education Centre (6010 Fraser Street, Vancouver)

Hours/Schedule: 5 hours/day, 5 days/week

July to August each year: Mon-Fri 11:30am-4:30pm

September to June each year: Mon-Thurs 3:45pm-8:45pm, Sat 8am-1pm

Responsibilities:

In this position, you will:

  • Perform office functions to support the operation of Adult Education
  • Assist in preparation and verification of Ministry reports (1701, SADE, TRAX, Provincial exam/registration)
  • Prepare daily fee collections sheets and collect book deposits
  • Perform accurate data entry of student information and registration, student record maintenance
  • Maintain office records, reports, timetables, records and perform basic bookkeeping tasks
  • Photocopy materials
  • May be required to work with SFE system to assist in placement of EOCs
  • Answer telephone and act as receptionist to greet the public and provide accurate information, direction and assistance
  • Type from copy and rough draft a variety of material including correspondence, reports, forms, statements, classroom materials, etc.
  • Perform other work within the job band as assigned

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 plus up to one (1) year formal training in a business/office program and a minimum of two (2) years of office experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge and experience using Outlook, phone systems, and Microsoft Office/365 programs
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • This position will require the candidate complete work with a high degree of accuracy within a busy work environment
  • Must be able to meet the following assessments: current Word and Excel (average = +65%), composing correspondence, and basic business math
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain an Occupational First Aid (OFA) certificate and will be required to perform OFA duties if assigned by the Principal. OFA attendants may, at the direction of Employee Services, be required to perform emergency coverage at other locations
