About the role
NWI Precision specializes in high-precision machining of helicopter masts, turbine shafts, engine thrust links, and nuclear pressure vessel components for the aerospace and nuclear industries worldwide. Operating from a 120,000 sq. ft. facility at 9 Fenmar Drive in Toronto, our dedicated team is committed to delivering the highest quality products to specifications and on time. As our operations continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to support our expansion by developing innovative solutions, improving existing systems, and ensuring seamless integration of new technologies.
The Automation Engineer oversees the development, implementation, and optimization of automated systems and technology to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and quality. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Designs and executes automation strategies to improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Manages automation projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Works with various departments to assess automation needs and integrate automated systems seamlessly.
- Supervises the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems to meet performance and safety standards.
- Ensures compliance with industry regulations and company quality standards.
- Stays updated on advancements in relevant technology and implements best practices.
- Integrates technology and digital information for seamless transfer of data and communication.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in automation, particularly in project management and leadership roles.
- Strong technical knowledge of automated system design, robotics, control systems, and relevant software applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for assessing complex systems and developing automation solutions.
- Experience of implementing data acquisition, database development and integration, and PLC programming
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the aerospace, automotive, or similar production-related industries.
- Experience and knowledge of MRP/ERP systems used in manufacturing.
- Expertise in research and development of automation technology capabilities.
- Relevant certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Automation Professional (CAP).
