The Financial Services Department – Information Technology Division requires a regular full-time Systems Analyst.
Responsibilities Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Platforms, you will be involved in complex analytical and programming work in response to a wide range of user requirements, encompassing all phases of projects (i.e., analysis, documentation, system design, programming, implementation, and support). You will analyze and evaluate data and information for existing and proposed systems and procedures, recommend and develop logical solutions for problems, act as project lead on intermediate-level projects, and work with business leaders on a regular basis.
Duties The following is a list of illustrative examples of the work performed in this role. It is not an exhaustive list of all the duties that will be assigned:
- Lead feasibility assessments and requirements gathering for proposed systems or enhancements
- Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to define business and technical needs
- Integrate and interface with systems through RESTful APIs and other system integration methods
- Conduct data analysis and write complex queries using MS SQL Server
- Participate in and occasionally lead Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions
- Assist in system testing, deployment, and ongoing support of enterprise applications
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and documentation
- Provide input on architecture and design discussions within the enterprise platforms group
Requirements
Candidates must possess a Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline, with considerable related experience in programming and systems analysis, preferably in a municipality, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong knowledge of systems development methods, techniques, and tools. Technical experience in SQL, Visual Studio, VBA, C#, .NET, React, and configuring ERP and CRM applications. The ability to understand and construct ER diagrams, assess system and integration feasibility, and work with enterprise-level databases. Knowledge of API integrations, including consumption and development of web services. Demonstrated stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across departments. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
Compensation $46.07 to $54.44 hour
(Pay Grade 26 – January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work
Required hours may consist of any 7 consecutive hours between 7:00am and 11:00pm, Monday to Friday, and may also include an occasional shift on weekends or evenings. The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) in approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
