About the role

OVERVIEW

Assess, prepare and assist patients with treatment under the direction of the therapists in a variety of settings including in the department, the pool and on the wards. Assist patients with transportation. Maintain work materials and supplies. Responsible for order and cleanliness in the work areas. This role will include shifts Monday to Friday and rotation into the weekends.

Education

  • Graduate from a recognized OT/PT Assistant program required

Qualifications

  • Previous acute care experience required.
  • Experience in orthopaedics, stroke & neurology, respirology, geriatrics, and/or general internal medicine an asset.
  • Ability to clinically reason based upon knowledge of anatomy and physiology required.
  • Ability to modify interventions quickly in accordance to changes in patient status required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to carry out directions of therapists.
  • Independent decision-making skills required.
  • Good team player.
  • Demonstrated interest in relevant continuing education.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
