Dispatcher (Full-Time)
West Kootenay Transit - 8170 Old Waneta Rd, Trail, BC.
40 hours/week | Monday-Friday

Are you the type of person who thrives on keeping things organized, moving, and on time? Peace Country Transit, part of the Keolis Canada family, is looking for a Dispatcher who’s sharp, dependable, and enjoys being at the heart of a busy operation. This role is a mix of dispatching transit routes, HandyDART bookings and handling front desk administrative tasks. You’ll be the go-to person coordinating drivers, communicating schedules, and ensuring daily operations run smoothly—all while helping customers, answering phones, and keeping things organized on the front line.
What You’ll Do:
- Handle HandyDART dispatching, including call-taking, client registration, bookings, scheduling pickups, and live dispatch
- Communicate clear and timely instructions to drivers and respond to real-time issues or service disruptions
- Prepare daily operator schedules and respond to vacation or shift change requests in coordination with the Operations Supervisor
- Post service alerts and detours on websites and internal channels to advise both riders and drivers of service disruptions, using appropriate software
- Monitor and respond to emergency calls or road issues affecting operations
- Process and update payroll information, ensuring accurate reporting of operator hours and overtime
- Assist with safety meetings, hazard reporting, and safety documentation
- Process HandyDART applications and communicate approvals
- Maintain detailed records including customer service logs, payroll inputs, ridership data, lost and found, and AVL tracking
- Provide backup support for:
- Fleet software for inventory, parts, work orders, and maintenance costs
- Financial tasks like processing invoices, preparing reports, and liaising with accounts payable/receivable
- Track and report on ridership data and service statistics
- Order supplies, assist with administrative tasks, and help maintain compliance with regulations
- Occasionally monitor radios after hours when needed
What We’re Looking For:
- Proficient English skills
- A friendly, service-first attitude
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, helpful attitude
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Quick learner with great attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable using a computer
- Intermediate level Excel skills
- Reliable team player who works well independently
- Employment is contingent upon receiving a favorable background check.
Bonus Points:
- Knowledge of Trail, Castlegar or local routes is a plus
- Previous dispatch or forward-facing customer service experience
- Formal education in Office Administration is an advantage
What We Offer:
8 HR Shifts | Monday-Friday| Full-time position from 8AM – 4:30PM
Wage: $25.00 per/hour
