First 960 hours - $24.23

After 960 until 1440 hours – $25.96

Knowledge and Experience:
-
A valid Class 2 or 4 unrestricted driver's license with a clean driver’s abstract.
-
Driver's abstract with a demonstrated record of safe and responsible driving over the past 5 years.
-
No criminal convictions or pending charges relating directly to the Operator position.
-
Significant skills dealing effectively with the public, including demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, problem solving, and sound decision-making in positions providing customer service.

Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to communicate effectively with clients and caregivers and to report on incidents involving safety and/or service.

A good knowledge of the local area including being familiar with street names and locations within Prince George city limits is an asset. You must be able to do effective route planning.

Willingness to participate in a comprehensive recruitment process which consists of interviews, trainability session, medical examination (as required for licensing), drug and alcohol screening, criminal record and reference checks.

Must be physically and mentally able to perform all duties required.

Must meet qualifications for ICBC Commercial Licensing.

Experience in transporting persons with disabilities is an asset.

Key Accountabilities:
Customer Transportation:

Safely transport HandyDART clients in accordance with BC Transit and company policies, observing all traffic laws and safety rules and adhering to client booked times.

Perform pre and post trip duties, bus cleaning, and fueling.
-
Provide courteous and professional customer service, including loading and securing mobility devices and escorting clients to and from accessible doors.
-
Make general announcements of assistance to customers.
-
Collect correct fares and sell HandyDART tickets to clients.
-
Manage passenger behaviour by quickly and effectively solving problems.
-
Drive safely and responsibly and be prepared for all road and traffic conditions.
-
Answer inquiries en route.
Reporting and Emergency Procedures:

Complete a variety of reports as required, including paperwork.
-
Carry out emergency / collision procedures when required.
