About the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, with frequent interaction with the Engineering Manager, the Electrician will maintain and troubleshoot factory equipment from various suppliers to improve and maximize reliability. The Electrician will assist with development and maintaining of key programs to ensure we have a sustainable electrical and control systems in place.

Job Requirements

Education: Minimum grade 12 or equivalent education

Certification: A Licensed Electrician with an Ontario Journeyman’s Electrical License, 442A or 309A

Experience: 4 or more years of experience in a similar role preferably in a continuous process environment; experience in the food manufacturing industry considered an asset

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Practice safe working methods as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Internal Management Policies in order to protect personnel and equipment

  2. Develop and maintain factory electrical and controls

3.Develop and maintain electrical controls documentation

4.Maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of High Speed PLC & VFD Controlled Processes and Packaging Equipment

5.Maintenance of electrical Plant Utilities such as lighting and emergency lighting

6.Timely completion of Preventive Maintenance Routines and Work Orders

7.Conduct preventive maintenance on power distribution and automation equipment

8.Advise on problem resolution and the procurement of material and equipment for individual jobs

9.Communicate clearly with Maintenance, Engineering and Production personnel

10.Proactively perform electrical repairs as required and recommend mechanical repairs

11.Work with appropriate Resource to maintain Electrical Engineering Compliance

12.Improve reliability through accurate control of calibrating process controls and recorders

13.Maintain equipment documentation, ensure work orders and PM sheets are completed accurately

14.Performs all required duties safely, efficiently and within required housekeeping, safety and environmental standards

Working Conditions

Canada Royal Milk is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation.

As a dairy processor and infant formula manufacturer, CRM strives to exceed regulatory requirements for food safety, quality, hygiene, and good manufacturing practices. All employees who enter the processing areas for any reason must comply with all food safety protocols in addition to health and safety best practices.

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment and include:

· Standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting and other physically demanding tasks performed for virtually the entire shift (8 to 12 hours)

· Lifting to 25 kg (55 lbs) frequently

· Use of various chemicals (i.e. detergents and sanitizing solutions)

· Possible exposure to dust, fumes, oils, unpleasant odors, noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable, occasional exposure to ambient temperatures above 28 Celsius and high humidity

· Exposure to physical risks using standardized safety precautions and equipment, including, but not limited to slippery surfaces, working around high-temperature equipment, heavy and repetitive lifting, etc.
