About the role

Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our course development team in the School of Applied Health’s newest program, Advanced Diploma – Massage Therapy. We are seeking motivated professionals to share their expertise in the industry, to build and enhance the program. The School of Applied Health invites applications for developing the core massage therapy courses, such as Anatomy, Human Physiology 1, Human Physiology 2, Massage Therapy 1, Massage Therapy 2, Therapeutic Relationships, Professional Foundations of Massage Therapy, Nutrition, Hydrotherapy, and Anatomy & Palpation.

This position will provide successful candidates with an exciting and dynamic opportunity to work with a team of professionals dedicated to the advancement of the School of Applied Health. The successful candidates will work independently for the most part, to create and assemble course content that will provide the best possible educational experience for our students.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Working very closely with the Associate Dean and the Curriculum Advisor and in collaboration with other members of development team you will be:

    • Developing course outlines in alignment with the Program Learning Outcomes, applicable regulations and standards of practice in Ontario;
    • Developing Course Learning Outcomes, specifically related to the course description in alignment with the Program Learning Outcomes;
    • Defining course critical performance statements;
    • Developing evaluation matrix and assigned specific evaluation tools to each evaluation method with the associated rubrics;
    • Designing the course content within each module and evaluation style;
    • Providing revision support based on committee feedback received;
    • Attending virtual meetings with the Curriculum Development Team;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate(s) will also meet the following qualifications:

  • Registered Massage Therapist;

  • Preference will be given to individuals with a master’s degree;

  • Preference will be given to individuals with a variety of experience in the industry

  • Experience with universal and accessible design is an asset;

  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level is an asset;

  • Network of contacts with other professionals in the Healthcare industry is an asset;

  • A critical understanding of problem solving and innovative conceptual and strategic thinking.
