POSITION SUMMARY
Sanitation Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe workspace to ensure the quality and safety of products produced. This position is responsible for the full cleaning and sanitizing of all production equipment and the production areas, as well as, maintaining the daily cleanliness of the production floor including rest areas and offices. This position will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Sanitation Technicians are responsible for thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing machinery, tools, and equipment used in the manufacturing process. This includes cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment, production areas, including floors, walls, and holding tanks, to eliminate dirt, dust, and contaminants that can affect product quality and safety.

Handle the proper disposal of waste materials, including hazardous materials and chemicals, in accordance with safety and environmental regulations, such as those related to food safety, workplace safety, and environmental standards.

Cross train on all functions of the sanitation department. Learn the processes for cleaning each line and its equipment, including the operation of all sanitation tools/equipment.

Complete post sanitation swabbing following procedure laid out SOP for microbiological testing.

Inventory control for all sanitation supplies including chemicals, filters, equipment and cleaning supplies.

Work with Front Line Managers on all shifts to coordinate scheduling of cleaning tasks.

Adhere to corporate HACCP and SQF programs.

Maintaining accurate records of cleaning and sanitation activities to demonstrate compliance with regulations and quality standards.
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
-
1 Year of experience in a quality assurance or sanitation role within a beverage/food manufacturing facility or equivalent experience in related field.
-
Some functional training in use of chemicals, Basic Chemistry and QA processes and procedures combined with a High School education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working knowledge of chemicals, and related safe handling, storage and disposal.
-
Excellent working knowledge of WHMIS system.
-
Ability to effectively work independently or as part of a team.
-
Good organizational & communication skills.
-
Must be able to transfer this knowledge to others as part of the work team.

Physically capable of walking climbing and bending for extended periods of time.
-
Ability to multitask in a busy environment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
-
Physically fit to do manual labour tasks in a large-scale industrial facility.
-
Working at heights and in confined spaces may be required.
-
Must be able to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.

Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to perform tasks and have and follow WHIMIS on all safe handling of food grade industrial chemicals, cleaners and its storage.
