Position Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program & Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing and overseeing engaging programs and events, recruiting and supporting volunteers, and ensuring a positive experience for members and community participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Programs & Events
- Develop and evaluate a range of programs, workshops, and social events
- Coordinate program schedules, instructors, and space logistics
- Collaborate on marketing content and digital calendar updates
- Support seasonal decorating, multicultural and community celebrations
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, train, and support a diverse group of volunteers
- Maintain volunteer records and manuals
- Organize volunteer appreciation events and ongoing recognition
- Provide mentorship to summer students and practicum placements
Community Engagement
- Strengthen partnerships with local organizations and community groups
- Support fundraising and outreach initiatives
- Attend staff and committee meetings as required
Qualifications:
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in program coordination and/or volunteer management
- Experience in the non-profit sector and/or with older adults is an asset
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with social media and databases
- Current First Aid (CPR-C + AED) and Food Safe Level 1
