Position Overview:
The inspector, Powertrain, is responsible for efficiently and effectively, dispositioning component parts from the powertrain product line.
Job Description:
- Identify component parts that fail to meet OEM specifications
- The technician will be required to clearly document detailed estimate of repairs, or other criteria, that will be required on each component, and prepare documentation, needed by Production, Materials Management, Salvage/Welding, and Sales staff
- Must be capable of interpreting output from magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic and other non-destructive test procedures
- The inspector is responsible to identify all parts that are reusable, and either document specific salvage processes or order replacements, if it is not repairable.
- The successful candidate MAY be required to work in the Powertrain disassembly and assembly, or other areas as directed by the PM of inspection, to gain experience and product knowledge and to accommodate core fluctuations
Qualifications:
- HET Journeyperson ticket, or interprovincial Red Seal, is required
- Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C
- Multiple years’ experience working on heavy equipment powertrain components
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and a high attention to detail are required
- Understanding of powertrain components
- Other experience in a Heavy Equipment environment is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to follow work instructions
- Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively
- Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
- A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner & comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures
Note:
- This posting is for a static afternoon shift scheduled Monday - Thursday; 10 hours per day
- Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement

- Will require successful completion of drug and alcohol testing, a criminal background check, and a medical assessment
- Hourly Rate: $51.50 / Hour
