Ottawa-based company Media Q Inc. is looking for motivated individuals to bring their transcription skills into a partnership with us, where we can offer you flexible working hours, independence, and the ability to work from home.

Media Q produces bilingual (French and English), verbatim transcripts of news events throughout Canada and around the world for a variety of private, government, non-profit and not-for-profit clients. Our mandate is to provide our clients with verbatim and rapid turnaround transcripts.

We are currently looking to fill multiple freelance positions both part-time, and full-time.

This is not a salaried position, pay is per assignment and is commensurate on your speed as a transcriber. Based on a 30-minute recording, expected average pay should be $40/hr.

Job Description:

· rapid and error free verbatim transcription of provided audio files;

· light research related to topics of audio files provided;

· completion of transcripts quickly and within required time frames

Applicant Requirements:

· must type at a minimum of 70 words per minute;

· strong proficiency in both French and English is a must**

· ability to work independently and efficiently;

· organized with a keen attention to detail;

· knowledge of computers and a variety of computer software;

· must have experience using transcription set up (foot pedal and Express Scribe or other);

· AI assisted software not permitted;

**While we are focused on looking for a bilingual transcriber, there may be an opportunity for a well-suited English transcriber.

NOTE: A transcription skill test will be required to judge speed and accuracy.
