About the role

Come showcase your leadership and IT facilities management skills as a Senior Facilities Specialist! The Infrastructure Technology Services (ITS) within the Ministry of Health is looking for an IT professional to join their team.

Note: This position is located at 5700 Yonge Street, Toronto; however, alternate work arrangements may be available. This position may require travel throughout the province.

About the job

In this role, you will:

• provide highly specialized senior technical leadership as well as manage the coordination, development, implementation and maintenance of cost-effective I&IT facilities, solutions and services

• provide senior expertise to ministry customers and advice on the use of IT facilities to meet their business goals and objectives

• assist in the development of tools, techniques, standards and policies

• provide guidance and training to staff on various matters

• guide and coordinate work conducted by internal and external service providers

• provide senior technical expertise in the development of facilities infrastructure for systems and processes

• provide project leadership and technical guidance to facilities staff, service providers and contractors retained for specific project activities

• conduct research for products and services that meet stakeholder business needs

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

The duties of the job will require the successful candidate to travel within the region/throughout the province to perform the duties of the position

Technical Knowledge

• You have knowledge of environmental control systems and technologies used in computer and telecommunications installations (environmental monitoring systems, air conditioning, electrical, security and fire prevention equipment and systems).

• You have knowledge of Intel-based system technologies (peripherals, environmental requirements, operating systems and application software) as well as networking systems.

• You can read and analyze project blueprints.

• You can use computer-assisted design programs to produce facility-related drawings.

• You have demonstrated experience with solution design, development and implementation.

IT Facilities Knowledge

• You have the ability to read, interpret and analyze architectural blueprints for both mechanical and electrical drawings.

• You have knowledge of facilities design standards, technologies and operations.

• You have knowledge of IT facilities theory, related methods and techniques as well as legislated requirements.

• You have experience to ensure work performed is within parameters of policies and directives such as building codes, health and safety guidelines and fire codes.

Communication, Relationship Management and Analytical Skills

• You have relationship management, communication and interpersonal skills.

• You can provide guidance, training and technical expertise to junior staff.

• You can prepare and present technical documents and recommendations to management staff.

• You have evaluation, problem-solving, reasoning, planning and analytical skills.

Project Management and Procurement Knowledge

• You have knowledge of project management methodology, tools and processes.

• You can make recommendations on technology and services acquisition and negotiation of contracts.

• You have experience sourcing, awarding, and working with contractors and vendors.
