About the role

Our client, L-D Tool & Die who is a well-established manufacturing business located in central Stittsville with a dedicated team of 125 employees is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead the accounting function and drive the financial success of the Company.

Position Overview: The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations, and reporting directly to the President. You will play a key role in the company’s financial health by ensuring accurate accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. This is a hands-on role that requires a process-minded professional with superior organizational and documentation skills, a strong customer service focus, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations including bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations and general ledger management.
  • Be a business partner to the rest of the company by analyzing data and creating reports to advise and inform stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong relationships with our bankers.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes , ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Develop, document and implement business process improvements, including optimization of an ERP system.
  • Develop and manage the company’s annual budget and financial forecasts, providing analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain cash flow forecasting to ensure efficient management of working capital.
  • Prepare financial reports for the President, providing insights on company performance, variances, and trends.
  • Oversee compliance with tax regulations and coordinate the preparation of tax filings.
  • Support internal controls and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Guide and mentor junior accounting staff , fostering a culture of development.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial guidance and support for business initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (accounting designation is an asset).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience , with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of ASPE and IFRS and accounting principles.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting , and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial data clearly.
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Excel and accounting software platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday - 8:00 AM -5:00 PM
  • Employee may be required to work additional hours, including weekends, when required.
  • Work is on location, with some flexibility for individual circumstances.
