Hybrid Work:
This is a hybrid work position in Calgary, Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at the WestJet Campus (22 Aerial Place NE) 3 days per week. This provides flexibility the remaining 40% of the work week. This hybrid work plan allows for critically important learning, collaboration and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are agreed upon by the team.
**This is a 12 months temporary position **
The Inventory Management Specialist plays a critical role in optimizing WestJet's provisioning network by overseeing the development of accurate forecasts, purchasing strategies, and supply chain methodologies. This position ensures governance of global inventory, storage, and replenishment practices, while driving down costs and overall inventory value in alignment with Total Cost of Ownership principles.
Responsibilities

Analyze network schedules and consumption data to create inventory forecasts and maintain optimal stock levels at all uplifter locations.

Work cross-functionally and with external partners to develop and manage inventory tracking, monitoring, reporting, and analytics processes for WestJet’s on-station inventory.

Model forecasting trends using variables such as schedule, fare class service levels, and historical order patterns; support reorder plans and strategic inputs to avoid under- or over-stocking across the network.

Lead execution of Guest Experience-related product changes on board—including new product launches, usage changes, and depletion plans—and collaborate to introduce new stock items while phasing out obsolete inventory responsibly.

Perform inventory audits at multiple sites and guide business partners on inventory reporting standards, FIFO compliance, and overall best practices; analyze the performance of supply chain pull strategies.

Provide regular insights and feedback to the Distribution Center Order Desk and Planning team regarding uplifter inventory needs.

Partner with Strategic Procurement, Cabin Provisioning, and Experience Management teams to align KPIs and oversee execution of purchasing agreements.

Contribute to supplier performance evaluations by delivering metrics-based feedback (e.g., fill rate, service recovery) and promoting continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
-
3–6 years of experience in inventory management, logistics, or supply chain operations
-
College diploma in a related field (Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, etc.)

Experience with procurement and supply management practices
-
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analytics and reporting
-
Strong understanding of supplier management frameworks
-
Proven negotiation and influence skills in cross-functional environments
-
Solid forecasting experience and familiarity with analytical modeling tools
