Community Service Worker (Summer Student)

In this role, you will :
- Assisting Coordinators with scheduling of client assessments for seniors seeking assistance from the Seniors’ Transportation program.
- Gaining experience and knowledge in completing over the phone client assessments and eligibility criteria evaluations to assess clients’ situation and to determine the types of services required/needed.
- Assisting with the scheduling of client and volunteer rides within geographical area.
- Assisting with volunteer recruitment and retention.
- Administrative duties such as typing letters, documents, and presentations.
- Answering the telephone and general inquiries for the public.
- Preparing and distributing public service announcements.
- Answering general inquiries about the program and receiving referrals.
- Assisting with information booths to help with program growth and expansion, as requested.
What we are looking for :
- Excellent interpersonal and recording skills.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office software applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook).
- Organizational skills and the ability to understand detailed information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A self-motivated individual who takes initiative and pays attention to detail.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving problems.
Working conditions :
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment.
- As we work with and support people (managers, colleagues, beneficiaries/customers, volunteers, donors and external partners) and communities in Canada and around the world, applicants whose first language is not English may be required to perform the responsibilities of the role in English.
