Reporting to the Head of Fleet Performance, the Manager, Voyage Optimization (VO) will be responsible for enhancing maritime efficiency and sustainability. We are seeking a highly motivated and details-oriented person. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing vessel routes, improving fuel efficiency and ensure optimal scheduling of vessels in close collaboration with the Operations team. This position based in our Montreal office requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communications skills and a solid understanding of maritime operations.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING | THE ROLE Key Responsibilities Include

  • Identify the most time-efficient, fuel-efficient routes using specialized software. Plan voyages in consultation with the needs of Operations.
  • Be the primary point of contact for the Weather Routing providers to ensure optimal voyage planning for the Fednav fleet.
  • Monitor speed and position deviations for vessels on active routes and promptly take actions to maximize voyage efficiency and notify the Operations Team accordingly.
  • Provide detailed feedback to Operations and Chartering Teams, including insights on voyage performance, route adherence and claims evaluation.
  • Ensure all voyage plans comply with international maritime regulations and company safety standards.
  • Support the Assistant Manager, Fleet Performance to review voyage data, identify trends, suggest areas of improvement and opportunity for cost savings.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Manager, Fleet Performance and Manager, Fleet Productivity to ensure the optimal and efficient operation of the Owned and Long-term Charter fleet.
  • Support the Head of Fleet Performance in developing and implementing strategies to enhance vessel performance and fuel efficiency.

WHAT YOU BRING | THE PERSON The Ideal Candidate Has

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in voyage optimization, maritime operations or similar role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in voyage optimization software and tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • * English proficiency is required
