Job Title: Metals Recycling Manager - Mississauga
This position is open for domestic candidates only.
JOB SUMMARY
To manage, direct, and coordinate scrap production at a metals recycling scrap yard in order to achieve production output, and profit objectives consistent with quality customer service and safety and corporate goals. This position is responsible for the overall management, profitability, and production. This position has direct responsibility for providing high quality scrap in order to obtain scrap goals aligned with the Company’s strategic objectives.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The incumbent has the responsibility to support and enhance the division’s sales policies, procedures, practices, to ensure the desired results consistent with profitability objectives, and existing market conditions. Maintain safe working conditions and insure that employees follow safe working standards. Participates in safety meetings and follows up on all matters related to safety. Ensures that Company policies relating to all employees are being implemented on a fair and consistent basis and that good employee relation practices are being maintained. Analyzes the overall coordination of all departments to ensure the smooth flow of work through the location. Reviews the operations of the location to ensure that orders are being processed to meet customer requirements. Analyzes all cost, financial and operating reports to ensure that department objectives are being met. Reviews the performance and results of the staff under responsibility area to ensure efficient and accurate functioning of these areas.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for overall health & safety in conjunction with the Corporate Safety program for the location.
- Effective implementation and application of Gerdau Business Systems.
- Responsible for Employee Relations and personnel policy at the location.
- Responsible for achieving operational goals.
- Responsible for maintaining customer relationships.
- Direct responsibility for the transfer cost of internal scrap.
- Overall responsibility of the locations costs including spending and budget development.
- Responsible for continuous improvement and long-term planning.
- Ensures environmental compliance and conformance within Corporate policy and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Possess a broad knowledge of the metals recycling industry.

Be familiar with health and safety management, accounting, industrial relations, and management procedures and techniques.

5 to 7 years related work experience including significant exposure to scrap processing.

Supervisory experience.

Possess a post-secondary education in Business Administration or related area.
