As we grow, we are looking for a multi-talented Buyer / Purchaser to lead procurement efforts and support the operations team with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset. This role is at the intersection of purchasing, production planning, and operations support. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, has electronic industry experience, and can take ownership of purchasing, vendor relationships, MRP forecasting, and support the operations team that will manage daily operational logistics. You will work closely with component vendors, distributors, assembly partners, and internal cross departmental teams to ensure on-time deliveries and seamless production flow.
Key ResponsibilitiesPurchasing & Vendor Management
- Source and purchase components for production builds, ensuring timely deliveries
- Manage and grow relationships with key vendors; hold them accountable to delivery schedules and pricing commitments
- Regularly request and evaluate updated quotes for cost savings; compare vendor quotes against internal pricing to ensure best value
- Review and understand technical specifications in BOMs to assess part availability, limitations, and suitable alternatives
- Approve and categorize vendor invoices for accounting
MRP & System Management
- Own and optimize the Katana MRP system for accurate data management and forecasting
- Ensure BOMs, stock levels, and orders are up to date across platforms
- Identify issues in the inventory system and work with the provider on resolutions and enhancements
- Manage multiple digital databases to ensure consistency and accuracy of data
- Train internal team when applicable
Production & Inventory Planning
- Monitoring of production schedules and inventory levels; escalate risks or delays to Management & the Operations team
- Perform inventory audits for critical components and finished goods
- Proactively schedule inventory review meetings with management; recommend reorders and stock thresholds
- Support the operations team in the planning of builds across multiple contract manufacturers
- Support the operations team in the kitting of components for production, ensuring BOM accuracy before shipment to assembly partners
Logistics & Administrative Support
- Lead operations team to ensure incoming components are physically entered and digitally recorded into inventory
- Support broader operations initiatives and administrative duties as assigned
- Delegate and lead specific projects within the production and operations functions
- Backup operations team in the handling of shipping and receiving duties, including creating waybills, customs documents, and packing slips for domestic and international shipments
Key Qualities
- Strong attention to detail with a quality-first mindset
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Collaborative approach, focusing on negotiation results while maintaining strong relationships
- Strong communication skills across teams and with external partners
- Self-starter, comfortable taking ownership of projects and systems
Preferred Experience
- 2–5 years in a purchasing, planning, or operations role (ideally in electronics or lighting)
- Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems (Katana experience an asset)
- Comfortable working with BOMs and interpreting component specifications
- Familiarity with logistics, international shipping, and customs documentation
- Experience with LED technology and lighting components is an asset
