We’re looking for a strategic and experienced Controller to join our team in Saskatoon, SK. As a key leader in our finance department, you will be instrumental in overseeing financial operations and contributing to the sustained growth of our organization. Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strong leadership and oversight for the entire finance department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions, ensuring efficient and accurate operations.
  • Managing and coordinating the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Developing and maintaining robust internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Leading the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitoring financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and trends, and reporting findings to senior management.
  • Collaborating closely with project teams and the leadership team to regularly review project financials, including cost-to-complete, earned value, and profitability, providing strategic insights and recommendations.
  • Managing cash flow effectively, including projections, optimizing working capital, and ensuring liquidity.
  • Coordinating and managing annual audits with external auditors, ensuring timely completion and compliance.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations (GST, PST, corporate income tax, etc.) and other statutory requirements.
  • Providing financial analysis and support for project costing, profitability analysis, and new business initiatives.
  • Mentoring and developing the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Implementing and optimizing financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Liaising with banks, legal counsel, and other external stakeholders as required.

We Require:

  • Certified Professional Accounting designation (CPA).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller, with a significant portion of that experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, percentage of completion method, and project costing.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization.
