Position Purpose Industrial Engineer lead will lead the development of engineered labour standards to model store processes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate competency in core Industrial Engineering principles (engineered labour standards e.g. MOST, time and motion Studies, Staffing and Scheduling). The candidate will be required to coordinate with internal and external partners to analyze business needs and provide insights and recommendation on process improvement opportunities and industry trends in retail operations.
Position Responsibilities Oversee and manage the maintenance of existing, and implementation of new, engineered labour standards utilizing MOST (or similar) methodology
Design and conduct time and motion studies for the development of engineered labor standards and process re-engineering activities
Conduct in-depth analysis to determine impact to the organization resulting from revisions to engineered labor standards, SOP changes or implementation of pilot programs.
Act as an internal consultant by developing and maintaining relationships with business partners, gain understanding of their business processes and vision, and present and influence stakeholders with recommendations for process reengineering
Use appropriate project management tools and techniques to plan and execute the completion of assigned tasks and deliver consistent results
Build and deliver compelling presentations at the appropriate level of detail for the audience, including executive leadership
Develop optimized scheduling and staffing models to drive productivity and customer service targets
Utilize data analytics and visualization tools to identify and present actionable labour insights
Perform configuration changes within WFM system to reflect labour model changes
Partner with HR and other business partners to build change management approach for assigned projects
Mentor and coach more junior associates as needed in IE principles
Experience/Knowledge Required Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial Engineering preferred)
3- 5 years professional experience as an Industrial Engineer in retail or DC environment
Extensive experience building engineered labour standards and conducting time and motion studies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership
Experience performing data analytics and building visualization using SQL, Python, Tableau etc.
Demonstrated ability to tackle business problems that are ambiguous in nature
Strong project management skills, with the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks at any given point
Self-starter, efficient, organized, and able to produce high quality work under pressure and in a timely fashion
Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility and confidentiality
Deliverables and Execution
Develops and maintains comprehensive engineered labour standards based on existing or proposed store processes
Designs and conducts work sampling time studies, maintains documentation, and summarizes and presents insights
Recommends process improvements based on industrial engineering analytics
Consults with business owners to align on business strategy and vision and incorporates in labour model development
Develops and deploys staffing models to drive operational efficiency
Partners with HR and business owner to build and deploy change management to stores
Performs ad hoc workforce analytics and provides stores with insights and recommendations
Supervises and validates work from more junior associates and provides feedback
People
Advocates for customers and associates by ensuring the right labour support is provided
Represent workforce team in broader organization by acting as SME for labour engineering
Balance interests of various stakeholders impacted by labour (Finance, stores, HR, etc)
Communicates effectively to stakeholders and SLT and gain buy in for proposals
Mentor and coach more junior associates
