Power Plant Engineer Code: MMEP / 23272 Salary: $75,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year The position of Power Plant Engineer is responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of maintenance requirements, modification changes, services bulletins, leading / coordinating of all the Engineering activities on a particular engine type. Typical duties include the planning of workscopes for engine shop visits, providing support to the Sales & Customer Support Department through ensuring that customer requirements are met, designing and approving engineering standards, repairs and modifications, preparing engineering instructions, and providing variance authorization and reports.

Your Tasks: Customer Oriented

  • Manage the shop visits for each engine with respect to engineering responsibilities (Induction – Disassembly – Assembly)
  • Communicate with Customer Program/Support Manager about the workscope proposals for engine inductions
  • Communicate shop findings to Customer Support and provide recommendations for workscope changes
  • Provide feedback to Customer Program/Support Manager in the invoice preparation as required
  • Support in the monitoring of engine shop visit costs, report current status (generation of shop visit summary)
  • Provide technical support for customer's operating fleet AOG situations as required (in close co-ordination with Customer Program/Support Manager)

Technical Oriented

  • Review engine paperwork, previous shop visit paperwork
  • Provide technical assistance/direction to Production to address engine related problems and findings during the engine shop visit
  • Assist in compiling cost estimates for customers prior to engine assembly
  • Prepare Engineering Highlight and Investigation reports
  • Liaise with Sales department in preparation of workscope proposals for potential customers
  • Interface with the engine OEM's to resolve/research technical issues, by submitting inquiries and requests for CDRs
  • Write/Update Technical Orders, MRBs, and Green Pages for deviation handling, including review/approval of technical documents
  • Create and control the WRB process
  • Provide technical assistance to customers for troubleshooting on-wing engine problems
  • Technical support, assistance and guidance new tooling/equipment purchased for engine

Our Requirements:

  • Bachelor/University degree in an Engineering related area, preferable with 3-4 years experience (Aviation Gas Turbine Engines) in a repair or maintenance environment
  • or equivalent education in an Engineering related area with 3-4 years work experience (Aviation Gas Turbine Engines), preferable in a repair or maintenance environment
  • experience with Pratt and Whitney V2500 is an asset
  • Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Operation System Windows
  • Intermediate knowledge with MS Office
  • Intermediate knowledge with SAP Engineering specific functions/transactions

MTU Maintenance Canada Ltd. is an organization that is approved by the Federal Aviation Association (FAA), Transport Canada and other aviation authorities to inspect, maintain, repair, overhaul and test aircraft engines, modules, and components. MTU Canada is a North American member of the MTU Maintenance networks of companies, one of the largest provider of independent commercial engine services worldwide. The Canadian operations base serves in two locations in Delta and Richmond, British Columbia.

The Delta operations facility holds OEM technical data licenses required to maintain, repair and overhaul GE, IAE and CFMI engines: CF6-80, CFM56-2/3/7, F108, F138 and V2500 as well as a variety of other OEM licenses to perform MRO services on engine accessories for these and several other engine types. In 2022, MTU provided maintenance for V2500 and CF6-80 operators and owners and for the F108 and the F138 under USAF contracts.
