Position Overview: This fast-paced position involves ensuring timely and optimal delivery of required direct materials to the production facility to meet the needs of the customer. Working with both the Production and Materials Management teams, this person will focus on getting the required parts sourced, received, and delivered directly to production jobs in all ways possible, without altering customer promise dates and avoiding technician downtime.

This job is primarily focused on ensuring work orders have all right parts allocated in the right quantities before it is called into assembly.

Job Description:

  • Using creative problem-solving techniques to address all direct material back orders and unexpected work order material variances, including placing orders, using internal options, and alternate vendor part sourcing
  • Identifying reallocation options from valid donor work orders
  • Planning, tracking, and expediting all high-priority parts from order inception to the assembly bay
  • Communicating delivery times to Production in a prompt manner
  • Working closely with Production Planners to ensure production schedule can be attained
  • Ensuring that expected promise dates for all parts and sublets with vendors are met
  • Tracking, benchmarking, and analyzing expediting efforts and giving feedback to vendors through management
  • Executing on the physical swap in conjunction with material handlers and production technicians
  • Communicate with production technicians and leadership to identify previous movement of parts and potential locations for parts discovery
  • Identify parts constraint before weekly hypercare meetings
  • Working closely with supply chain buyers to identify which parts needs to elevated/escalated in on priority basis.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school or grade 12 diploma required; Post-secondary degree is an asset
  • Experience in service, or parts, Cat product knowledge; Experience in Finning Parts Department roles, including warehouse, front counter and inventory control will be of significant value
  • Minimum 3 years related experience or acceptable combination of education and work experience is required
  • Experience with Lawson system/MRP is an asset
  • Experience or exposure to transportation and logistics, warehousing and distribution, contracts management, sourcing and category management, master data management would be an asset
  • Strong, clear, and concise verbal and written communication
  • Critical problem solving ability
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with organization skills
  • Proven ability to be aware and flexible by assessment of situations and appropriate prioritization
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize based on evolving operational needs
  • Must be able to deliver under pressure with aggressive time schedules
  • A self-starter who can lead or contribute to effective team operation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Understands and adheres to Finning policies and procedures, including safety
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of broad or deep experiences in end-to-end supply chain management within heavy equipment, automotive, utilities, mining, parts or retail industry would be preferred.

  • Permanent, full time position
  • This position is located at OEM Remanufacturing in Edmonton
  • Afternoon shift, Monday to Thursday, 4pm – 2:30am

  • This position is a physically demanding role. The successful candidate will spend much of their day on their feet and moving around the facility (about 10,000 steps per day)
