About the role
Flocor Inc., is subsidiary of Deschenes Group Inc. and a leader in the industrial pipe, valve and fitting distribution industry. We are searching for Truck Driver/Counter Sales for our Nanaimo, BC Branch. The successful candidate is a dual-role position responsible for providing exceptional customer service through sales support at the branch counter, as well as delivering materials to and from customer sites in a safe and timely manner. This hybrid position supports sales operations and logistics while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and communication.
Primary Job Duties
Driving & Delivery Duties:
- Complete deliveries and pick-ups according to the branch’s daily schedule.
- Ensure safe loading, securing, and unloading of materials.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and submit maintenance checklists.
- Complete all delivery-related documentation, obtain signatures, and return completed paperwork.
- Follow all transportation regulations and company safety protocols.
- Responsible when driving, to ensure trucks and equipment are in good working condition; pre-start up checklists and maintenance checklists are completed and submitted, to immediately communicate mechanical/maintenance issues to supervision
- Support warehouse operations (order picking, receiving, stock placement) when not driving.
Sales & Customer Service Duties:
- Receive and process customer sales orders at the counter, by phone, or email.
- Prepare and follow up on sales quotations and delivery schedules.
- Promote complimentary, alternative, or specially priced items to enhance sales.
- Resolve customer issues by collaborating with warehouse, credit, purchasing, and sales teams.
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and communicate specifications clearly.
- Assist with order picking, packing, and restocking as required.
- Participate in trade shows or special events when required.
Secondary Job Duties
- Assist with physical inventory counts and reconciliation.
- Help maintain showroom and counter area appearance.
- Assist with reception and administrative tasks as needed.
- Acquire and provide Mill Test Reports or product documentation to customers.
- Provide feedback to improve routing, customer satisfaction, and sales opportunities.
- Responsible to participate in and promote the Company Health and Safety Program; to undertake training as required/requested; to ensure adherence to all Health and Safety guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Physically fit; capable of lifting, walking, and climbing.
- Class 3 driver's license with clean driving abstract.
- Bilingual (French & English) may be required in some regions.
- Computer literate with basic math skills and attention to detail.
- Able to operate or be trained in forklifts and lifting equipment.
Education & Experience
· Secondary School Diploma or College Diploma in Sales, Business, or related field.
· Minimum 1 year experience as a Class 3 truck driver.
· Minimum 2 years experience in customer service, inside sales, or warehouse/counter sales environments.
· A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
