About the role
Counsellor
Lethbridge Family Services (LFS) is seeking a counsellor to support to our Counselling, Outreach and Education department! A Counsellor plays a critical role in a variety of therapeutic approaches to serve diverse individuals, families, and groups. You will receive ongoing peer support from a dynamic and skilled team and substantial opportunities for professional development, all while working in a well-established, multi-disciplinary organization.
We offer:

a 35-hour work week with an opportunity to participate in flex schedule,

an opportunity to participate in our provisional supervision program, once qualified,
-
competent supervision from experienced professionals,
-
full administrative support for scheduling appointments, intake, and day-to-day office needs,

Counsellors:
-
counsel individuals, couples, families, and groups on a wide range of issues including: grief and loss, family violence, sexual violence, child abuse, interpersonal conflict, work-related stress, and life transitions,
-
maintain compliance with organization, licensing body, accreditation standards for client services, record keeping, and continuous improvement, and
-
keep up to date on new developments in the field, set professional goals for growth, and development.
Required skills and qualifications:
-
a master’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Marriage, and Family Therapy or relevant discipline as well as registration with a professional association,
-
experience working with people who have experienced trauma, including sexual violence, family violence, childhood, family origin abuse, and complicated bereavement,
-
awareness of LGBTQ2Si+, Indigenous, cultural, and seniors needs are highly valued, and
-
a creative, collaborative individual who wants to work in an environment of growth, learning, and flexibility.
All new employees must provide a police information check and vulnerable sector check dated not less than 90 days prior to the date of hire.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 4:30 required to work one evening a week
